The Times piece, “Big Cellphone Makers Shifting to Android System,” leads with the mention that Microsoft has been working on phone OSes since 1996, but is now “foundering,” and that Google will have dozens more handsets running its code next year. Various executives from Deutsche Telekom’s (DT) T-Mobile to Motorola (MOT) tout the virtues of Android’s open-source software.
